The United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women whose
purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and
to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Any woman may become a member of the United Methodist Women by accepting the purpose and being willing to participate in the work

Undie Sunday, March 14
The UMW is sponsoring Undie Sunday to collect packs of new underwear to be sent to the people of Haiti. Any size will do—men’s , women’s, or children’s. Remember that God can be found in the most ordinary, mundane things, and things we just take for granted.
UMW Annual Book and Bake Sale
This annual event is set for Saturday, April 17. Please start saving your books now to donate to this
fundraiser.
St. Mark UMW Circles
Austin Friendship Circle
The Austin Friendship Circle meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the home of that month's hostess. The Circle does not meet June - August.
Davis Circle
The Davis Circle meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Social Hall at St. Mark UMC. The Circle does not meet June - August.
Virginia Proctor Circle
The Virginia Proctor Circle meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Social Hall at St. Mark UMC. The Circle does not meet June - August.
Trinity Circle
The Trinity Circle meets on the 4th Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the home of the hostess. The Circle does not meet May - August.
Joy Circle
The Joy Circle meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at lunch. The Circle does not meet in July and August. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 24. Ann Broome and Jean Lax will have the program and serve as hostesses.
Friends of Susannah
The Friends of Susannah Group is an outreach of St. Mark UMC. This group is designed for women who would like to be involved in
activities, missions, and fellowship with other Christian women. The group plans bi-monthly outings and projects. This group works to
reach those women in our community who are unchurched.Friends of Susannah meets the third Thursday of each month.
The Friends of Susannah are selling Relay for Life Luminaries. Someone will be in the Narthex before each
traditional service, the educational wing during Sunday School, and in the welcome area at Blend. The
luminaries are $10.00 ($15.00 if you want a picture on the screen with the name). Luminaries are due by
April 19, if you want the name on the scroll that will run all night. Otherwise, you can turn them in up
until the night of the Relay.
We will also have forms to sign-up and join our team, as well as, survivors forms. You can go online at
S.C. Relay for Life to join the St. Mark team or complete a
form at one of our stations beginning on February 14.
Our next Chic-Fil- A night is set for Monday, April 19, 2010. The time is 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
You must tell them at the window you are from St. Mark UMC. Twenty-five percent of all St. Mark sales will
go to our Relay for Life team.
UMW General Meetings
The UMW general meetings are held quarterly throughtout the year at 7:00 p.m. in the Social Hall Each circle rotates hosting the meeting,
providing the program, and handling clean-up after the meetings. The UMW Executive Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. prior to the general meeting.
