SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

A Message from Our Sunday School Superintendent

Todd Dalton

It’s 10:00 on a Sunday morning – do you know where your child or youth is? Hopefully, in Sunday School! We’re so excited about our Sunday School offerings for all ages this year. We have a Nursery for our youngest babies, but as soon as they turn two, they may attend our toddler class. They use the Bible-in-Life curriculum, combined with crafts, snacks, and lots of fun! Our 3-year-olds through our 6th graders benefit from Cokesbury’s Live B.I.G. (Live your Belief in God) curriculum. This fastpaced curriculum combines solid Bible study with two DVD components focused on real life application, missions, and music. We are excited to announce that our 7th-12th graders will all use the Student Life curriculum. This curriculum provides excellent lessons every week over the Internet that follows a systematic plan and teaches and affirms essential truths.

Livescience.com recently released a survey that showed there may be even more benefits than we thought to attending church and Sunday School. Students who attend religious services weekly average a GPA .144 higher than those who never attend services, said Jennifer Glanville, a sociologist at the University of Iowa. The survey suggests that there are several reasons this may be true.

- They have regular contact with adults from various generations who serve as role models.
- Their parents are more likely to communicate with their friends’ parents.
- They develop friendships with peers who have similar norms and values.
- They’re more likely to participate in extracurricular activities.

We encourage you to bring your child or youth to Sunday School. If you have any questions about your child’s Sunday School Class or our curriculum, please feel free to contact us.
