St. Mark United Methodist Church

YOUTH MINISTRY

St. Mark UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each Sunday in The Attic on the Rivers St. campus. Young people participating in UMYF exeperience fun, fellowship and weekly topical discussion on how youth and teens can become more involved and devoted to following Christ in their own personal life. UMYF members also have the opportunity to begin serving others and nurturing others within the walls of the church. Under adult supervision, our youth help to lead our children in St. Mark's KREW ministry.

Our youth also participate in yearly trips. Youth travel to Panama City, Florida for Big Stuf each Summer. Check out www.bigstuf.com. Our youth also have the opportunity to serve outside the walls of the church by participating in Salkehatchie Summer Service. More information can be found at www.salkehatchie.org.

Finally, our youth experience a winter retreat at either traveling to Springmaid Beach at Myrtle Beach, or we often offer a Winter Ski Retreat. In the midst of all of the traveling, we have day trips like rafting and lake trips, however the ultimate goal is that youth begin to understand how Jesus desires to be a part of their life now, in every aspect of it. Whether that aspect be having fun or leading a devotion, Jesus truly wants to be Lord of the lives of our teens.

UMYF

UMYF this Sunday - we'll continue our look at The Invisibles. We are surrounded by the invisibles. These are people who simply want to know someone cares, someone notices? people who want to know God cares. Some of us would even say we feel that way? invisible to an entire world, daily passing us by. Whether that feeling is a familiar one or not, the reality is that each one of us has felt invisible at one point or another. But we didn't stay that way. God saw us. He sees the invisibles. And because God took notice of us, we are able to open our eyes to see those around us.

February 28 - Session Two: In Focus
Bottom Line: Because we've been seen, we should now see the invisibles in our lives.

March 7 - Session Three: Seeing Beyond the Seen
Bottom Line: Jesus sees beyond our visible need to one we may not be able to see.

Join us this Sunday in The Attic, 6:30-8:00. Supper will be served.
